Our Family Model of Care is at the core of everything we do at Christ’s Haven For Children. While we know we can’t replace all that a child has lost with their biological family, we can provide the tangible benefits of family. Including a father figure.
Only 15% of the youth living at Christ’s Haven have a biological father in their lives. So when a child comes to live at Christ’s Haven, they instantly gain a father figure with their houseparent. From playing video games or basketball, to homework or coloring, the houseparents at Christ’s Haven serve as consistent caregivers with unconditional love and support.
We know there is evidence that the presence of a positive father figure yields lifelong benefits as a child grows into adulthood including healthier relationships, less high-risk behaviors, and fewer mental health struggles (Fatherly.com).
Christ’s Haven for Children does not receive any state or federal funding, relying solely on the generosity of the community. We receive donations from individuals, churches, foundations, businesses, civic groups, and others.
