Christ’s Haven Kids Embrace Adventure at Pine Cove Camps

Several youth from Christ’s Haven experienced unforgettable summer memories at Pine Cove Summer Camp. From splashing in the pool and playing sports to horseback riding and soaring on ziplines, there were all kinds of adventures. It was a week filled with fun, friendship, and memories that will last a lifetime.

This was all made possible by the generosity of Pine Cove Camps and Restoration Church. A group of members at Restoration Church put together a silent auction to raise funds specifically for Christ’s Haven youth to attend Pine Cove. Thank you!

Going away to camp is more than just a break from the norm—it’s a chance to have childhood experiences that every kid deserves. Whether it’s swimming, ziplining, or just hanging out with new friends, these moments of normalcy are so important for emotional and spiritual growth.

Christ’s Haven Chosen For Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant

We’re proud to be selected for The Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant, thanks to local Starbucks partners in our community.

Neighborhood Grants strengthen longstanding and newly established community connections that partners are nurturing and building as community champions, all in service of our neighborhoods. The organizations nominated in this round are empowering youth, fighting hunger, uplifting families, addressing homelessness and promoting environmental stewardship. You can find more information about the Neighborhood Grants on Starbucks Stories.

We’re grateful for the support in providing normalcy, dignity, and hope to the youth we serve at Christ’s Haven.

Christ’s Haven Statewide Presentations

Staff have recently participated in local and statewide opportunities to share about Christ’s Haven programs.

Maddie Churchman, VP of Programs, gave a presentation to the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards.

She was able to share with the boards about Christ’s Haven’s trauma-informed, family model of care for displaced youth and how Christ’s Haven can serve as an option outside of traditional foster care.

Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards’ (TCCWB) mission is to support a statewide network of volunteers concerned with the welfare of children, especially those suffering from abuse and neglect.

Dr. Vivian Dorsett, College & Career Readiness Manager, attended the Texas Network of Youth Services (TNOYS) Town Hall in Tarrant County along with a young adult from Christ’s Haven’s supervised independent program.

They were both able to share perspectives about the experiences and needs for young adults aging out of foster care.

2024 Teen Summer Trip

If you think back to childhood summers, memories probably include a vacation. We believe formative memories on vacation are an important way we can provide normalcy in the lives of displaced youth at Christ’s Haven.

Our teenagers recently returned from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, after a summer trip full of activities like kayaking, fishing, ATV riding, ziplining, and more. It was a fun week of adventures full of new experiences and opportunities to be stretched outside of comfort zones.

Thank you to Sportsmen’s Club of Fort Worth for underwriting a portion of the trip, to the staff who planned all of the details, and to volunteer mentors, JD & Casey, for spending their week with us.

A week of vacation and a lifetime of memories!

Christ’s Haven Clay Shoot Co-Chairs

A Message from Christ’s Haven Clay Shoot Inaugural Event Co-Chairs, Quinn Moser & Tim Philpot:

“During the early years of their marriage, two of our team members at Preservation Financial Wealth Management were foster parents for a young man. They learned of the real need for supporting children who find themselves in distressed situations. Later in life, these same team members became acquainted with Christ’s Haven’s programs for children along with their commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ. How could we not be partnered with a quality organization such as Christ’s Haven?”

We are grateful for Quinn & Tim’s leadership as they help plan Christ’s Haven’s inaugural Clay Shoot on August 24. The event will include a fun day on the 15-station sporting clay course at Northlake Shooting Sports with facilitation by highly skilled instructors.

A variety of sponsorships for greater visibility and marketing of your business are now available. Any remaining individual and team registrations will be available July 17. You can read more information HERE.

Happy Mother’s Day

A day like Mother’s Day can be a day filled with complicated emotions when you are caring for another mother’s child. At Christ’s Haven, we hold space for the mix of feelings and all of the mothers involved.

💐 We honor the mothers who showed their bravery and love by raising their hands and asking for help.

💐 We honor the houseparents who showed their bravery and love by stepping in no matter how short or long the period of time.

One of our houseparents shared this reflection about her role at Christ’s Haven:

“Being a houseparent is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. We stand in the gap and carry the burden of raising another woman’s child while she needs us…while her children need us. When they succeed or fail, celebrate or grieve, when they love us or hate us, the work is worth it. We carry them in our hearts all day every day.”
