Christ's Haven's Family Resource Center Recently Certified by National Family Support Network

Christ’s Haven’s Family Resource Center (FRC) was recently certified by the National Family Support Network in their Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support. This is a significant step in the process of growing our FRC and ensuring that we are caring for families with excellence.

Our VP of Programs, Maddie Churchman, and Case Manager & FRC Coordinator, Rhonda Thomas-Peters, were trained and certified in the following 5 areas of practice:

Family Centeredness
Working with a family-centered approach that values families and recognizes them as integral to the Program.

Family Strengthening
Utilizing a family strengthening approach to support families to be strong, healthy, and safe, thereby promoting their success and optimal development.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Valuing, respecting, and embracing families’ diversity, and advancing equity and inclusion.

Community Strengthening
Developing a strong and healthy community by working collaboratively with various stakeholders and supporting families’ civic engagement, leadership development, and ability to effect systems change.

Evaluation
Looking at areas of program strength, as well as areas for further development, in order to guide continuous quality improvement and achieve positive results for families.

222 in 2022 – NTX Giving Day

Passion & Purpose From Christ's Haven Staff

It’s time for the day of giving, NTX Giving Day! Your gift helps fund the year-round work of providing Normalcy, Dignity, and Hope to displaced youth. We are asking 222 donors to make a donation to Christ’s Haven this year on North TX Giving Day.

All this week we have shared from our staff about their passion & purpose at Christ’s Haven.

Find your passion.
Give with purpose.

Happy Myra Brockette Day!

You might not recognize the name Myra Brockette, but it is the name of a hero.

On August 17, 1920, an 11-year-old Myra deposited $1.06 into a bank account. Little did she know then that her deposit would one day amount to $1.5 million providing college education for young adults living at Christ’s Haven.

Myra lived a humble life and diligently made small deposits for 80 years growing her savings. She came upon Christ’s Haven while trying to donate a used musical instrument. After learning more about the organization and connecting to the mission as a child growing up in poverty unable to attend college herself, Myra made a decision. She would donate her estate to Christ’s Haven with the sole purpose of funding secondary education expenses.

What began as an simple act in 1920 resulted in generosity that would impact lives at Christ’s Haven for generations. Just like the 2021 college graduate in this photo.

Every August 17 we celebrate Myra Brockette Day and her generosity that began so many years ago!

2021 Annual Report Available

Christ’s Haven’s 2021 Annual Report is ready!

We hope you will take a moment to read through the 2021 Annual Report so you can see the impact made in the lives of so many. A few highlights include:

* CEO Update from Cassie McQuitty
* Welcome from Board Chair, Darrin Lewis
* 2021 Outcomes: Residential – College & Career Readiness Programs
* Family Resource Center Update
* 2021 Volunteer Awards
* 2022 Special Events
* Financials
* Spotlight Profiles

As you will read in the Annual Report, we saw tremendous growth in 2021 with 95% capacity in our Residential Program for youth ages 0-18 and the largest group we’ve ever had in our College & Career Readiness Program for young adults ages 18-24. We don’t anticipate the demand to lessen. As the Texas foster care system is at the height of a capacity crisis, we know and believe that Christ’s Haven is here to be an important part of the solution.

It will take focus and determination from all of our partners to continue providing Normalcy, Dignity, and Hope for displaced youth. We are ready and look forward to serving with you.
